Dalby is drying out

Finally I can write something about the weather. Mike and I inspected the airfield on Saturday and it was wet, as his pictures show.

There has been no rain since the 2mm on Friday night and with some sunlight, higher temperatures and some wind, the ground is drying our quickly.

Today the grassed areas were dry to walk on.

Bruce flew in yesterday in the JS1 from Kingaroy. Simon flew today with cloud base at 6000ft.

Council staff are continuing to prepare the airfield with more mowing today and hopefully some rolling starting tomorrow.

The croppies continue to be very busy and we expect that to continue throughout the nationals.

Airfield preparation

Council staff have spent yesterday and today mowing the airfield and the camping area, which is excellent timing.

Club members spent this morning laying out and connecting the water pipes in the tie down area.

Overall the airfield is in very good condition and very different to what it was in 2004, there is a lot of grass cover now.

The jig saw puzzle

Now that I have proved that the blog works, and more importantly that I can follow the instructions on how to use it, a few more details….

Today in Dalby I met with the two Ag operators to discus how we can work together during the nationals.

I finalised negotiations for the supply of Avgas during the comp.

Talked to the guys at Dalby Air Maintenance about their aircraft movements during the comps and requested their assistance and priority should any of our tugs need some unscheduled maintenance during the comp.

I finalised arrangements for the welcome function at the Country Club Hotel on the evening of Sunday 3 October, more details to follow. Then talked to the local “media” about how we can maximise coverage in the local press.
